Lawrence Flechner


Dr. Flechner graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University, and received an MD and PhD at UCSD on full scholarship.  As a graduate student, he identified an important gene involved in diabetes and his findings were reported in the prestigious scientific journal Nature.  He went on to complete a urology residency at UCSF and was recruited to the Urology Institute in October 2012.  He has extensive experience in robotic and laparoscopic surgery, and his special interests are in cancer of the kidney, prostate and bladder, and kidney stone disease. When not working, he enjoys traveling, jogging, and spending time with his wife and two young children.
